Crush on Candice

I have a serious crush on Candice Olson, and it's not just because we're the same height with similar color hair. I looooooove her designs! And I don't even hold it against her that I probably am twice her weight.

I have every show she's ever been on saved on my DVR. I was thrilled when she came out with a new show, Candice Tells All.

More eye candy. And besides, now I wouldn't have to watch the same shows over and over.

Although I totally would.

Now I just won't have to.

When Candice revealed this room, my eyes completely bugged out of my head.

It's hard to tell, but behind the sectional there's a wallpaper. It's like a giant gorgeous chrysanthemum line drawing. Of course I had to track it down.

It's called Chrysanth Neutral and it is made by a company in the UK. I have linked the website here.

Here are some better views of the wallpaper.

Photobucket

It even comes in different colors, like red.

Do you know where I'm going with this?

Thinking about DIYing it. Have I totally, completely lost it?

Possibly.

But I have a history of complex paint ideas that have turned out ok.

I'm thinking I could sketch it out, and then just draw it with a metallic paint pen, kinda like the mom cave.

Eek!

I can see Mr. RBR's sigh and his head shake already.

Unbelievably Fantabulous Extraordinary Kitchen

It's not mine! Waaaaah...

I'm talking about Flea Market Trixie. Have you seen her kitchen!?! I am DYING over every detail. I just know you will too.

I'll show you one before and after just to make sure you go over there. Because once you see it, you will be so glad you did. Or maybe you'll be like me and feel sad that you have the ugliest kitchen ever. (I bet mine's uglier)

Photobucket

OK, ok, ok. One more.

Photobucket

Holy crapsticks.

I have no idea what that means. It just came out.

Now please, do go over to Trixie's and give her some bloggy love on a project incredibly well done.

The kitchen reveal is here.

The cabinets were unfinished oak. Trixie painted them herself (6 coats!).

Here's how she made the table in the breakfast nook.

They built their own range hood!?

I think the floor is so adorable. It's painted wood!

PS. Trixie has no idea who I am, and we have never met. I am just a random kitchen-luster.

Now go make something!

Pillow Talk II

Remember my post about these awesome felt flowers?

I decided they were just too cute and I upgraded them from "Things-I-will-not-get-to-until-my-kids-learn-to-wipe-their-own-butts" to "Something-worth-putting-off-laundry-for."

In other words. I made one.

Did you know 1 small sheet of polyester felt only cost 29¢!? 29¢ people! Get yourself a 29¢ piece of felt and make one!

This is what I did with mine.

I give you Exhibit P. P is for pillow, dontcha know.

Photobucket
My bed, in case you were wondering.

Love the fabric (made by Waverly, I bought it at Joann's) but I thought it could use a boost (boost is really code for "more flowers").

Photobucket

This is a fabric tie belt for a skirt I don't even own anymore. You could use a ribbon. I cut it to shorten it and sewed the cut end down.

Then I tied the "belt" around the pillow in a bow. Then I pinned the flower to the pillow.

Photobucket

The cool thing is I can remove the flower anytime I want and wear it. Awesome, no?

Ta da! Insert wavy jazz hands.

Door Makeover

It's just a little thing, but the exterior door in our toy room was looking grungy and needed a coat of paint.

Photobucket

I was originally thinking I'd just paint it white again, until I saw Centsational Girl's home office and Thrify Decor Chick's pantry door.

Centsational Girl's Home Office post here.

Thrifty Decor Chick's post here.

And so.... my door went from this.

Photobucket

To this!

I like it! There's no reason every door has to be the same color. Lesson learned. :)

DIY Mobile

I have seriously thought about making my own mobile for baby Delaney. How cute would these be?

Thank you, Martha. You rock.

Look how pretty they look in this room.

Check out that lucky girl's room reno at Life in the Fun Lane.

The only problem is Delaney's room is already so busy above the crib.

Photobucket

The poofs would hide her name. So I think if I do a mobile it has to be really delicate. Paper somethings (butterflies? flowers? birds?) hanging from the ceiling? Argh. I don't know! Do I even need a mobile? I don't think my boys used mobiles.

What about you? Are you in the mobile or no mobile camp?

If you would like a beautiful mobile, how about you make those gorgeous poofs (learn how to here) and show me how it turned out!

Love this!

I am such a flower junky. MORE FLOWERS! I am just realizing I have a problem.

I have probably 2 dozen flower brooches. Brooches? Is that right? That doesn't look right. I love their vintage-y charm. Most of them are old, but some are new. I'd love to add these to my collection. I have them on my list of "Stuff-I-want-to-do-that-I-won't-get-to-until-my-kids-learn-to-wipe-their-own-butts."

What, you don't have a list like that?

It's not that wiping their own butts is that important to eeking out a moment to craft time. It's that I think being able to wipe one's own butt implies a level of competency where I don't have to supervise them EVERY. SECOND. OF. THE. DAY. Follow me now? lol.

Look how cool! Cool for a brooch. Cool for a barrette. Cool on a handbag. Cool on a pair of flats. Just plain cool.
